A day in the life of an Art Director

Blue Latitude Health | 26th February 2015

Have you ever wondered what it is like to work at Blue Latitude Health?

We sat down with our Art Director, Kasia Zygadlewicz, to find out more about what a typical day is like for her at Blue Latitude Health:

What time do you wake up usually?

I wake up at 7, hit snooze for 15 more minutes and check emails on my phone. This wakes me up.

What’s your morning routine?

Morning routine is my favourite part of the day, not to be missed. We like having a proper “family breakfast”. We have boiled eggs with soldiers, sourdough bread toasted to perfection and good coffee. We watch BBC breakfast news and weather and get ready for the long journey on the tube.

How do you get to work?

I take the Northern line for a very long time which is not too bad as I get to read my Kindle. Sometimes I also listen to podcasts and my fantastically eclectic Spotify playlist, whilst trying to avoid eye contact with women putting their make-up on.

What time do you usually arrive in the office?

9:30, give or take.

What’s the first thing you usually do when you sit at your desk?

I say good morning to the colleagues around me, check my emails, one more glimpse at the BBC news website and more coffee.

What’s a typical morning for you?

I try to quickly organise myself, make a little list of things to do and get stuck into a one big project or a series of smaller ones I am currently working on.

What music do you listen to whilst working?

Sometimes, if a project allows me to listen to anything, I’ll listen to Kevin Smith’s Hollywood Babble-on podcast. On my playlist there is a bit of country, a bit of folk, some funk, some grunge and some musical theatre. It’s a strange mix.

Do you work through lunch or go out?

I like having a little walk.

Do you buy lunch daily or bring something in?

I usually bring in a sandwich or soup.  Otherwise I’d get carried away with all the food choices Farringdon has to offer.

What’s the first thing you do after lunch?

Carry on with my work.

What’s a typical afternoon for you?

Much like the morning, I get stuck into a project I’m currently working on. A highlight of my afternoon is the coffee pot I share with a couple of colleagues around me. We also share some dark chocolate, which is nice.

What are the common challenges you face each day?

Getting the right mix of creativity and efficiency right. But I love both aspects of this challenge. I’m lucky to have turned a hobby into a job, so it’s not difficult or incredibly challenging really.

What time do you typically finish work?

Between 5:30 and 6.

How do you unwind from a day at work?

I cook and bake and watch a lot of comedy. My favourite show is Louie by an American stand-up comedian Louie C.K.

What are your must-read websites that you visit daily?

I’m addicted to ffffound.com
