Our primary goal in collecting personal information from you is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and personalised experience while using our website and services.
We collect information about visitors to the site in one of two ways:
1. Automatically, through the use of website visitor statistic gathering tools. All information which is obtained in this way, which includes demographic data and browsing patterns, is used solely in aggregate form, and it is not possible for us to identify details about individual visitors to the site.
Information collected in this manner is used to:
2. Individually, through the use of forms, whether online or off-line. This information is that which visitors to the site (or users of our services) provide to use (for example, for registration purposes) and which is essential for us to provide the services to our clients. Whilst we may use this information about you for the purposes of informing you of amendments, additions or improvements to the services which we provide, you may at any time indicate to us that you do not wish us to inform you of such through the methods indicated in the ‘Contact Us’ section below.
We use a number of different cookies on our site to help us improve the performance of our site. Cookies are small text files that help us anonymously identify your browser from page to page and from visit to visit. If you do not know what cookies are, or how to control or delete them, then we recommend you visit http://www.aboutcookies.org for detailed guidance.
The following tables describe the cookies we use on this site and what we use them for. Currently we operate an ‘implied consent’ policy which means that we assume by continued use of the site that you are happy for us to put a cookie on your computer. If you are not happy, then you should either not use this site, or you should delete Blue Latitude cookies after having visited the site, or you should browse the site using your browser’s anonymous usage setting (called “Incognito” in Chrome, “InPrivate” for Internet Explorer, “Private Browsing” in Firefox and Safari etc.)
Google AdSense – this cookie is used by Google to report to us how Bluelatitude.net advertising is performing if you click on a Google ad. User data is all anonymous.
You can find out more generally about Google and its policies and principles as regards advertising at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/ads
Google Analytics – we use this to understand how the site is being used in order to improve the user experience. User data is all anonymous.
You can find out more about Google’s position on privacy as regards its analytics service at http://www.google.co.uk/intl/en/analytics/privacyoverview.html
Eloqua - we use this to understand how the site is being used in order to improve user experience and to deliver more relevant content to our users.
You can find out more about Eloqua's position on privacy as regards its analytics service at: https://www.oracle.com/legal/privacy/privacy-policy.html
Third Party Content – we occasionally provide content through third parties who may implement cookies of their own. This includes external webservices such as embedded YouTube and Vimeo.
We recommend you set your browser to not accept third party cookies if you do not wish to have these services place cookies on you machine. We have little control over what they do with the data they collect.
Our web pages contain electronic images known as Web beacons (sometimes called single-pixel gifs) and are used along with cookies to compile aggregated statistics to analyze how our site is used and may be used in some of our emails to let us know which emails and links have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of our customer communications and marketing campaigns.
External web services
We use a number of external web services on the Blue Latitude Health site, mostly to display content within our web pages. For example, to display images we often use Flickr; to display slideshows we sometimes use SlideShare; to show videos we use Vimeo and YouTube. This is not an exhaustive or complete list of the services we use, or might use in the future, when embedding content, but these are the most common. As with the social buttons we cannot prevent these sites, or external domains, from collecting information on your usage of this embedded content. If you are not logged in to these external services then they will not know who you are but are likely to gather anonymous usage information e.g. number of views, plays, loads etc.
Some emails we send we put in tracking so that we can tell how much traffic those emails send to our site but we do not know who has clicked so the data is anonymous e.g. our newsletter. Some emails we can track, at an individual level, whether the user has opened and clicked on the email. We rarely use the latter information at a personal level, rather we use it to understand open and click rates on our emails to try and improve them. Sometimes we do use the personal information (e.g. to re-email people who didn’t click the first time). If you want to be sure that none of your email activity is tracked, then you should opt out of Blue Latitude Health’s emails.
Surveys & Contests
From time to time our site may request information from users via surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested will include contact information and supplementary information on your professional interests, opinions and preferences (e.g. choice of software, working practices, opinions on industry issues, feedback on the Blue Latitude Health web site).
In order to leave a comment in our Blog you must create a Disqus account. This information is held by Disqus, and we have no control over the information they collect and store.
If at any stage you wish no longer to receive any emails that you receive from the site you can stop them coming by unsubscribing to our service here.
We do not, and will never, pass your information to any third parties without seeking your express consent to our doing so. In the event that we are unable to obtain your consent (for example, if you do not answer our emails requesting your consent) then we shall never treat silence as being indicative of consent.
We strive to ensure that all of the personal information we hold about our clients is true, accurate and up to date.
You may, at any time, request a complete copy of the information which we hold about you. We are entitled to, but may elect not to, charge a small fee (at a rate set by legislation from time to time) for the time spent in our providing such information to you.
Where you indicate that any information we hold about you is incorrect, we will update it with any correct information as soon as is reasonably practicable after you inform us of the error.
You may request that we either stop processing any personal data held about you for certain purposes, but we shall inform you where doing so would prohibit, or otherwise restrict, our ability to perform our obligations under any contract which we have with you.
If you have any questions, or would like a copy of any information which we hold about you at any particular time, then you can email us at email@example.com.
